These long johns leggings are designed for comfort, temperature regulation, and good fit. It is surprising how much body heat can be conserved by protecting the legs. Also, children with sensitive skin often are particularly vulnerable in the legs and appreciate the smoothness of these long johns. Many items are available tubular knit without side seams for extra smoothness (please let us know if this is a requirement). To help you choose, the properties of each of the available fabrics are:

100% Organically Farmed merino wool -- Excellent for warmth, cosy with a surprisingly soft surface.
70% Wool / 30% silk -- Very good warmth quality withy a silky smooth surface to ensure a comfortable feel on the skin. Our best selling fabric.
100% Organic Fairly traded cotton -- Excellent value, good protection in summer and warmer days in spring and autumn. Washes well at 60 degrees, or up to 95 for undyed cotton if necessary.
50% Silk / 50% organic fairly traded cotton -- Best for protection for sensitive skin, as it has the cocooning qualities of silk but the washability of cotton at 40 degrees.

Each of the fabrics is available undyed natural colour, or in a choice of colours. Dyes when used are non-AZO, heavy metal free, reactive mineral dyes meaning that they do not leach onto baby's skin. Snaps on baby bodies, etc. are always nickel-free. There is no elastication at the seams or edges, thereby avoiding any possibility of digging into skin. All seams are sewn with the main fabric material, no polyester or other artificial threads are used. As with all of our products, you can breathe free knowing there have been no pesticides or chemicals used in the manufacture and finishing of the product, eliminating completely any possibility of skin irritation.
